Este adevărat, l-am criticat pe domnul Power în al doilea mesaj de pe acest topic, dar următoarea poezie (am auzit-o aseară într-o pauză pe BBC 2, acompaniată de nişte imagini superbe) chiar îmi place, mai ales ultima stofă:

Snooker Matters

It’s not the spacious table
in baize of green, or blue
with the baulk and the spots
and the “D” to take your cue
Not the pockets which are tight
nor the overhead too bright
nor the pregnancy of silence
when you make your every strike

It’s not the shot that parts the reds
that opens up the frame.
Not the snooker nor the safety,
nor initial scoring claim.
It’s not the foul nor the fluke
which amounts to much the same.

It’s not the stance at the table
With a left or right hand play
A bridge of hand and fingers
Above the baize displayed
but it’s the chalk on the tip
‘less every shot’s in vane

It’s not the Kiss, nor the Kick,
nor the white against the Cush.
It’s not the slow determined pace
nor the tendency to rush.
It’s neither left nor right hand side,
top or bottom when applied.
nor the cannon on the pack
off the blue, the pink, or black,

It’s not the long blue, from the middle
A spotted plant to pot a red
It’s not the cerebral geometry,
to escape the snookers dread;
snaking through the colours -
pretty flowers in a bed.
It’s not the fight for the black
when there’s no good looking back

It’s the playing for position,
for each sequential shot.
It’s the mindful concentration
to be self possessed or not.
It’s maintaining motivation
no chance the will to flinch
through the tiring and vexation
one iota, not an inch.
From the winner of each frame,
to the master of the game.
