KEN DOHERTY : "I was delighted to only be 5-3 down after the first session because I couldn't make a 30. But this evening's session was the best I have played since I got to the final here two years ago. ( Atunci, in sferturi, Ken a cistigat 10 jocuri consecutive in meciul cu HIGGIE ! ) That was the old Ken Doherty and it's nice to do it here, particularly when I was under the cosh. I was a completely different player and it felt so good to play that way. You sacrifice so much to be properly prepared coming here, and after the first session and thought 'I can't go out playing like this.' I knew I had to find my old rhythm. I knew it was in me, getting it out is the hard thing. You can always find your form here because the long sessions settle you down. I love playing here, it's such a great atmosphere."
Prezenta in semifinalele de la CHINA OPEN si victoria impotriva lui BARRY PINCHES ii asigura raminerea in Top 16 - slava Domnului. "It would have been a disaster to drop out, though there are better players than me who have gone out of the top 16 then got back in.”

"Moment poetic" in timpul meciului Jimmy White/Fergal O'Brien. La un moment dat camerele BBC-ului cautau cu frenezie pe jos un obiect negru neidentificat. Ce era, ghici ghicitoarea mea? Ce sa fie, ecusonul Michaelei Tabb, care pierduse lupta cu gravitatia.
Dennis Taylor, de la microfonul de comentator al BBC, a facut ordine scurt: "Any volunteers to stick it back on, get to the back of the queue!"
Pe Jimmy nu l-a interesat, dandu-l indiferent la o parte.
Si-mi amintesc de o alta faza cu Jimmy, cand a dat buzna o...doamna in costumul Evei in arena si el parca a zis, ulterior, intrebat fiind cum de nu si-a pierdut concentrarea, ca el asa ceva mai vazuse si ca important era meciul.
That's the spirit, man! Exact ca-n bancul cu badea Gheorghe care cosea indarjit pe o caldura cumplita. Vine un fecioras si, abia respirand, ii zice:
"Bade, bade, hai amu' ni acasa c-o pticat soacra-ta-n fantana!" Badea tace imperturbabil. La a nu stiu cata interpelare, raspunde calm: "No, ficior! Numa' oleaca de rabdare! Intai munca, apoi distractia!!"

! Imi aminesc momentul - am si o pozuliţă, pe undeva. Ma rog, acum, slavă Domnului ca Mr White s-a trezit, in fiiiine !... Si cind a iesit din arenă, după meci, tot mai căsca încă ... Eram gata să declar că dau divorţ... Dar m-am razgindit. Jimmy are gripa si, desi stranuta & tuseste de doua- trei zile, azi i-a fost mai rau decit ieri. Sa speram ca miine ii va fi mai bine decit azi... Dupa meci : "I've had the flu for the last few days which has made me a bit fuzzy so hopefully I can get rid of it before I play again. That affected me today and Fergal played a lot better."

Dar mai intai, alte doua perle absolut delicioase, pe care imi face placere sa vi le reamintesc:

La Riley Masters, iata ce au avut de zis comentatorii cu privire la trofeu: :"Isn't it the biggest set of balls you've ever seen?"
Despre sotia unui jucator de golf: "Every time before he goes out to play, his wife takes out his balls and kisses them. Oh, my God, what have I just said?"
Si, iata, the one and only, Sandy, la sfarsitul transmisiei live a meciului Higgins/Selby, fara sa realizeze ca mai avea microfonul deschis: "Mi-am dat seama...Ce prost sunt!"...

Va multumesc! Mi-ati readus zambetul pe buze!

Come on, ca atat de rar ii cuprinde dorul de autocritica!
Mira-m-as sa nu faca Marius Ancuta oleaca de shto diseara, daca tot ne citeste forumul!
Si putea fi mai rau de-atat. Chiar duceam dorul unor f(r)aze noi, ca de vesnicul "OOhhh! (semi-extatic) Unde se duce bila AAalbaaa..." ma cam plictisisem...

Tocmai am citit un articol publicat ieri in The Belfast Telegraph care mi-a lasat un gust amar. Este un articol mai lung cu titlul Sport on television. La un moment dat se aminteste de meciul Ronnie-Stephen de sambata si se fac niste comentarii cam nepotrivite dupa parerea mea. Articolul zice cam asa:

One man who always lights up the World Snooker championship is Ronnie O'Sullivan but on Saturday night the Rocket managed to blow a hole in the Beeb's coverage and leave Hazel Irvine floundering.

Defending champion Ronnie had just produced a classic comeback to overcome Steven Maguire in the first round, 10-9, and then duly told Irvine that he "wasn't interested" in the championship and had struggled all year to keep playing. Apparently, "he had other things to do". (vesnicile replici repetate de toate ziarele)

It was the equivalent of Thierry Henry saying he would rather be driving his Clio through the South of France than heading to the FA Cup final.

Here was the biggest snooker story of the year and Irvine - who revels in her cheerleader role - could only stammer and stutter, while John Parrott, sitting alongside the champion, looked, well as sick as parrot. (nu mai comentez )

O'Sullivan is the sport's number one talent - arguably the greatest - and here he was saying he would rather be somewhere else. Finally in desperation Irvine blurted, "But Ronnie you're in the form of your life!" which was code for 'Think of the viewing figures Ronnie'.

Ronnie looked as if he would rather be in Jimmy's kitchen munching on a croissant rather than chatting to Irvine and Parrot, who were found wanting when they had to do more than the usual "aren't you wonderful" cheerleading.

The best Parrott could come up with was "have a word with Ray (Reardon) and you'll be alright."

So good is Ronnie that he may well still go on to win the title but then what would that say about the state of the sport?

Finally, just where is the loneliest place in the world? The North Pole? Sahara Desert? Wayne Rooney's head? No, it is the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield.

Willie Thorne informed us of this for the first time on Saturday but surely not for the last. Prepare to be brainwashed over the next 16 days about this friendless environment and stay off the coffee as you wear out the sofa.

The two Ronnies strike again!
Am senzatia ca lui Ron-Ron nu-i place deloc sa interactioneze cu presa. Si atunci arunca bombe din astea ca si cum ar zice "Da'mai lasati-ma, oameni buni, in pace, sa-mi vad de treaba si nu ma mai ***pardon, bazaiti la cap!"
Nu stie sa gestioneze partea asta esentiala a activitatii oricarei persoane publice. Sau i se pare inutila . Povestea cu "spune tot ce gandeste" e cat se poate de adevarata, dar incep sa-l suspectez de pofta gratuita de a soca.
Nu pot sa cred ca poti produce astfel de rezultate senzationale tot sezonul cand nu te intereseaza. (Puh-leease!! : Si marmota invelea ciocolata in staniol...) Ca poti sa te aperi calm, otelit, superb si imperturbabil cand esti pe cale sa iesi pe usa din dos, la modul jenant, tu, campion mondial si NR. 1. Sau sa fie capabil de o astfel de dedublare? Cum poti sa joci asa numai din automatism? Eu nu cred ca e posibil.
Dar sa inchei pe o nota mai senina. Noi nu pentru asta il iubim!

Prefer sa revin la comentatori - ca mi-e cam destul de toate "ronnismele" astea din threadul lui Ronnie ... Iata doua "perle" scoase de faimosul TED LOWE, mare expert & comentator BBC :

* " The audience is standing to relieve themselves."
* pe cind arbitrul ( retras din activitate acum ) John Smyth se pregatea sa lustruiasca o bila, pentru care fapta scosese ball-markerul, ca sa nu-i greseasca pozitia pe masa, ce zice Ted ? "John Smyth's getting his little implement out !"
