Explosive Rocket could finish with a bang

RONNIE O'Sullivan may have spoken of his desire to take a break from snooker.
But Manchester snooker fans have one last chance to see the `Rocket' in action before his self-imposed exile from the green baize.
O'Sullivan is one of four players cueing up on Friday in the Betfred Premier League at the G-Mex Centre.
And despite losing his Embassy world crown, the world number one is favourite to pocket the &50,000 first prize.
However, unlike normal ranking tournaments, players are subject to a 25-seconds-per-shot limit, an innovation that wouldn't suit Peter Ebdon! Time outs are allowed, but any infringement incurs a five-point penalty.
So, the snooker looks set to be is fast, furious and entertaining - just the kind of action to revive Rocket Ronnie's appetite for the game he has graced.
The two heavyweights (Ronnie si Stephen) of the green baize are due to collide at the G-Mex Centre for a place in Saturday's final. But if O'Sullivan decides he's had enough snooker for the season, then Hendry might go through unopposed.
"Hopefully, he won't turn up," joked Hendry. "It will make my job easier.
"Seriously, though, the League has been a breath of fresh air.
"Some of us had reservations because of the introduction of the 25 seconds shot clock, but it's been a great event.
"We've already won more than &20,000 so far with a chance to pocket another &50,000.
"It has turned out to be one of our most lucrative tournaments.
"Hopefully, the fans will turn out to support it. We've played in front of some great crowds this season and it will be a shame if the final isn't sold out."

FEARS Ronnie O'Sullivan could miss the conclusion to the Betfred Premier Snooker League in Manchester this weekend have been removed.
The former world champion and current world number one revealed he plans to take a year out from the sport after losing his world title in Sheffield last week.
However, a League spokesman last night confirmed the Rocket's participation.

MARK : “I played well and I’m pleased with my performance. I had a great chance for another 147 in the final frame but my positional shot let me down. You never expect to win 5-0 but it’s great to be back in a final after a couple of years and I’ve never won this event. Since Sheffield I haven’t played much but this is one last tournament and a big prize so I’m focussed on winning now.”

RONNIE : “That’s the worst I’ve ever seen Stephen play – he missed a lot of balls - that really surprised me. He came here from Sheffield where he had a great chance of winning the World Championship and that kind of disappointment is hard to get over quickly. The balls went in for me and I went for shots I wouldn’t normally go for. I do love this game but it’s difficult for me to play when I’m in physical pain although it wasn’t too bad here. The final will be a good game – there’s fantastic money on offer and this is one of our bigger tournaments.”

Sa speram ca acest trofeu castigat de Ronnie i-a mai ridicat moralul si ca vara acesta va fi un sfetnic bun pentru el si il vom vedea in urmatorul sezon.

RONNIE : “This has been the best tournament of the season, and the one I’ve enjoyed the most. The format has been excellent and the matches have been quick and exciting which is what the public want to see – it’s sexy snooker and it’s the way forward. There have been no slow frames with people falling asleep. ( ) I played well and notched up a few nice breaks so there wasn’t much Mark could do in a few frames. I felt some physical pain but it was a final and the adrenaline carried me through. I’ll chill out over the summer then work out whether I’ll play next year or not.”

MARK : “The first couple of frames could have gone either way, but after that he blew me away. I’ve started to play a lot better at end of season but I was all over the place today and he was winning frames in one visit." Cit despre retragerea lui Ronnie : “Ronnie's so far in front of everyone else we've got to try to catch him. I hope I hope he puts his cue away and never finds it again. It doesn’t matter if he plays right, left or one handed, he’s the best player in the world.”

Ce scoruri s-au inregistrat astazi si ieri in Premier League! 5-0, 5-0, 6-0. Se pare ca pe Ronnie l-a avantajat cel mai mult acest tip de campionat: 5-0 impotriva lui Stephen si 6-0 impotriva lui Mark! Cred ca dupa aceste victorii, Ronnie se va razgandi in privinta retragerii de anul viitor.

Pentru cei care prind DSF, rezumatele celor 3 meciuri vor fi difuzate marti 10 mai, ora 22:45.
